Mission Statement

US Campaign for Burma - Philly
The mission of the US Campaign for Burma Philadelphia Chapter is to provide a grassroots support network of Philadelphians united on the common cause to increase awareness in the city and the greater Philadelphia area about the people of Burma and their long sought struggle for freedom and democracy, led by elected pro-democracy leader and 1991 Noble Peace Prize recipient Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

The chapter’s objectives include:

  • to provide a forum to network between individuals sensitive to the Free Burma cause,
  • to offer educational events on Burma at college and university campuses, community groups and religious organizations to raise awareness and attract members to the local chapter,
  • to support the national chapter of USCB headquarters in Washington D.C. led by Jeremy Woodrum and his leadership team, achieve their objectives by organizing an annual fundraiser, by attending the annual planning meeting, and by promoting general membership,
  • to filter programmatic news and general information about the Burmese refugees resettled in Philadelphia through the support of city local agencies,
  • to foster friendship both Americans and Burmese, as we unite under our shared concern for Burma by organizing informal fellowship events and gatherings.
